PAWTUCKET – Representatives
for Mixed Magic Theatre will
showcase their new outdoor amphi-
theater at 560 Mineral Spring Ave.
with a special performance of
Trinity Repertory Company's travel-
ing production of "Romeo & Juliet."
The public is invited for the one-
hour opening performance, which
is free, next Monday, July 31, at
7 p.m. Bring lawn chairs for this
"historic event with a historic com-
pany," said theater owner Ricardo
Pitts-Wiley. Donations will be
accepted, and reservations are not
required for the rain-or-shine event.
Pitts-Wiley said he and his wife,
Bernadet, saw the development of a
new outdoor space as an "interest-
ing addition" to the end of the park-
ing lot where their theater is located
in the Lorraine Mills. Property
management and city officials were
supportive of the idea, he said.
"Part of what we wanted to do
was not only provide a new kind
of performance venue for the state,
but do something to reshape the
identity profile of the community
we live in," said Pitts-Wiley.

PAWTUCKET – City Councilor
Albert Vitali Jr. is asking the Rhode
Island Supreme Court's chief disci-
plinary counsel to rule on what he
sees as a clear conflict
of interest with the
board's newly hired
attorney.
In a July 19 letter
to David Curtin, of
the court's disciplin-
ary division, Vitali
repeats concerns he
said he'd expressed
in an earlier phone call to Curtin
about attorney Joel Votolato advising
the council on a part-time basis even
as he represents a
former city employee
who's suing the city
on multiple fronts.
Vitali said he
doesn't see how
Votolato can repre-
sent the City Council,
which has authority
to settle all lawsuits
against the city, while also represent-
ing ex-firefighter Sean Gannon in his
cases.
