PAWTUCKET – The City
Council last week blasted
Mayor Donald Grebien's
administration for its handling
of an effort to collect late
tax bills from some 15,000
accounts, saying the process
needs to be changed for the
future.
Council members criticized
the fact that a letter from the
city was sent out to more than
4,000 of the
wrong people.
They also didn't
like the timing
of the letter, the
wording of the
letter, or the
response of the
administration
after residents
who received delinquent notic-
es started arriving at City Hall.

the race for Pawtucket School
Committee is over and the
seven seats have been decided,
The Breeze asked the winners
to talk about specific initiatives
they want to push in their first
months on the job.
We also asked the seven
Democrats – Erin Dube,
Michael Araujo, Kimberly
Grant, Joanne Bonollo, Joseph
Knight, Gerard Charbonneau
and Katherine McQuade –
what they want Pawtucket
schools to be best known for.

• On goals: Before mov-
ing forward with other "more
ambitious agendas," the first
step for Dube will be "to make
sure that the community is
welcome and encouraged to
participate in the committee
meeting process.
