Featuring artists of all kinds from all over the country and world, this festival lights up the heart of the city for a unique cultural experience. Modern artist Paul Coté, a Woonsocket High School graduate and Cumberland resident, says he's excited to give an even livelier performance than past years when he performs at an opening night gala on Friday, June 8, and the Main Stage Sunday, June 10. Coté's first performance will be with DJ Chakram. "We go all over the East Coast for performanc- es," he said, "We'll bring an epic set of music and live painting." Coté's on-the-spot painting will offer a visual for the audience to pair with the music. "I use it as a catalyst to raise money for Alzheimer's research." By word of mouth, people reach out to Coté about his innovative performance pieces. According to organizers, his presence at PVDFest offers great energy in getting people hyped up for the festival. Coté performed solo at last year's PVDFest. He said he is pumped to perform with various artists this year. "I'm humbled and blessed to be featured twice," he said. Sometimes Coté creates smaller paintings on stage as well. If the audience is lucky, he'll do a live auction right then and there.
