Gertrude (Quintin) Sawyer-Gagnon, 94, passed away peace- fully on ursday, December 14, 2017. She was the wife of the late James J. Sawyer and Wilfred Gagnon. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on May 26, 1923 she was a daughter of the late Romeo and Alexina (Bonafee) Quintin. Gert was a Gold Star wife aer losing her husband James Sawyer during WWII. She was also a parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation Church for 92 years, until moving to Virginia in 2015. She was an avid walker, walking 5 miles a day until her 92nd year. She loved reading, crocheting, sports of all kinds but espe - cially the New England Patriots and her beloved Boston Red Sox. Her greatest love though was her family. She was always there for family and friends Gert is survived by her daughter Sharon (Ron) Tardif of Virginia, one brother, Roland (Peggy) Quintin of Rhode Island, one sister, Cecile Charette, of Virginia. Nine grandchildren Barry (Kimberley) Sawyer, Brian (Crystal) Sawyer, Myra Sawyer, Sharon (Michael) Sloup, Traci (Elois) Contreras, Todd Gagnon, Trudi (Mark) Guindon, Meaghan (John Hodapp) Tardif and Greg (Allison) Tardif. 24 Great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchil - dren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons James R Sawyer and Jeffrey W Gagnon, Granddaughter Marian "Missy" (Sawyer) Behrens, 2 brothers Leo and Lucien Quintin, 4 sisters Lea Valiquette, Lucille Fortier, Marie Quintin, and Juliette Quintin. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 19th at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 211 Sabin Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860. Burial is private and in lieu of flowers please send donations to Alzheimer's Assocations. Gertrude (Quintin) Sawyer-Gagnon
