"Tony" Dauphinais, 84, of Cumberland, passed away April 6, at the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the hus- band of the late Doris (LaFlamme) Dauphinais. He leaves his beloved children, Michael Dauphinais of Westerly, Denise Holgate of Cumberland, and Lisa Descheneau of Manchester, N.H.; his sister, Theresa Lamontagne of North Smithfield; his three grand- children, David and Devon Holgate and Chantel Descheneau; his two great-grandchildren, Henry and Ruby Holgate; his dear friend, Claire Lamontagne; as well as several nieces and nephews. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Antonio and Albina (Lizie) Dauphinais. He resided in Cumberland for the past eight years, previously residing in Ocala, Fla., Woonsocket, Central Falls and Pawtucket. Mr. Dauphinais entered the United States Navy where he proudly served our country for four years dur- ing the Korean War. He was employed as a laborer for Olin Hunt Chemical for over 20 years. Tony enjoyed being outside, yardwork, helping others, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family. Tony's Life Celebration was held April 11 with visiting hours, and con- tinues today, Thursday, April 12, with a prayer service and Military Honors at 10 a.m., in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland. For online memorial: jjduffyfuneralhome.com . Greta A. Lafond Greta A. Lafond, 94, of Cumberland, passed away April 8, at the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket, sur- rounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Maurice A. Lafond Sr. Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Ethel (Parkinson) Sanschagrin. She resided in Cumberland for 69 years. Mrs. Lafond was employed as an assembler for the Hasbro Inc. in Pawtucket for many years until her retirement. She was a communicant of the St. Aidan Church. She was an avid lawn bowler, often traveling to various tournaments with her son Maurice. Among her many inter- ests, she enjoyed cribbage, puzzles and traveling, but most of all she was a dedicated mother, grand- mother, and great-grandmother. She was a die-hard Red Sox fan. She leaves her children, Mary A. Savard and her husband, Frank, of Cumberland, Margaret A. Sheppard and her husband, Thomas, of Coventry, Maurice A. Lafond Jr. of Cumberland, Muriel A. Medlin of Georgia, Maureen A. Sonner of Cumberland, Michael A. Lafond of Pawtucket, Marilyn A. LaFountaine and her husband, Robert, of Georgia; 13 grandchildren, 25 great- grandchildren and several great- great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Marcia A. Lafond and Mildred A. Beauchamp. Family and friends are invited to Greta's Life Celebration which began with visiting hours on April 11, and will continue today, Thursday, April 12, at 9 a.m., from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., in the St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Meunier, 86 of Port Charlotte, Fla., and formerly of Cumberland, passed away March 27, surrounded by her family in Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla. She was the wife of Roger E. Meunier, they had been married for the past 57 years. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Armand and Eileen (Kennedy) Tedeschi. Mrs. Meunier has resided in Port Charlotte for the past the past 25 years, previously residing in Cumberland. Mary enjoyed traveling with her husband and looked forward to visiting with her family in New England. Her grandson, Eric, was the apple of her eye. While in Port Charlotte, she attended and helped sell tickets to various shows at the Cultural Center of Port Charlotte and The Charlotte Players, a local theatre group. She was a hard working mother, wife and friend to many, she will be missed dearly. She was employed as an assis- tant cook and server for the Cumberland School Lunch Program through the State of Rhode Island, for 20 years until her retirement in 1988. Beside her husband, she is survived by her sons, Bruce M. Meunier of Port Charlotte and Jeffrey A. Meunier and his wife, Sandra, of Uxbridge, Mass; one grandson, Eric S. Meunier, of Uxbridge; two brothers, Robert Tedeschi and William Tedeschi; two sisters Estelle Richardson and Helen Chisholm, along with sev- eral nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Armand (Ted) Tedeschi Jr. Mary's Life Celebration was held April 10, with a funeral service at in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. Burial followed in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Forever Home Rescue, 106 Adams St., Medfield, MA 02052. Florence M. Shakan Florence M. (Breault) Shakan, 87, passed away April 5, at home peacefully surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert A. Shakan Sr. She leaves chil- dren, Debbie A. Mitchell and her hus- band, Charlie, Al Shakan and his wife, Robin, and Lori Shakan; brothers, the Rev. Charles Breault OMI, Brother Robert Breault and Richard Breault; grandchildren, Jennifer Shakan, Jason Lee, George Shakan, Kendra Shakan, Keri Mitchell, Emilie Mitchell, Will Shakan, Keith Shakan; great- grandchildren, Madelyn, Morgan and Luna; sisters-in-law, Joan Breault and Olga Caswell; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Armand Breault and Brother Edward Breault SC. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Rita (Beauregard) Breault. She resided in Cumberland for most of her life. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in 1949 and a CCRI graduate at the age of 51. Mrs. Shakan was a communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church for 59 years, where she taught CCD for more than 10 years. She was also a longtime Girl Scout Leader and on the Mercymount PTO Board. Mrs. Shakan was also a communicant of St. Basil the Great Church. Florence was a generous and lov- ing person who always put family and friends first. She enjoyed spending time in the yard where she was active. Florence's Life Celebration was held April 8 at the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 9 in the St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial followed in the St. Basil the Great Cemetery, Cumberland.
