12 AUTUMN IN THE VALLEY SEPTEMBER 22-28, 2016 | VALLEY BREEZE | CUMBERLAND LINCOLN EDITION LINCOLN - Tiffany Marsocci has planned about 700 weddings since she started working at Kirkbrae Country Club, and the Lincoln native, who was just named best wedding planner in the state by Rhode Island Monthly, says fall is a special season for couples at Kirkbrae. The club itself, nestled at 197 Old River Road in Lincoln, overlooks a 18-hole golf course where all of the foliage on the property changes color come autumn, Marsocci says. "It's just a really beautiful backdrop for pictures," said Marsocci, 32, who now lives in Cumberland. Since she started working in wed- dings and special events at Kirkbrae a little over seven years ago, she's helped couples bring their ideas for fall – and even Halloween-themed weddings –to fruition. "We set the stage, and Tiffany's the one that makes it come to life," said Tim Flanagan, general manager of Kirkbrae, who applauded Marsocci for her award as "Best of" in the state in 2016, and also pointed out both Marsocci has won numerous awards from WeddingWire and The Knot for her work. Marsocci said she's had couples request that leaves, rather than flower petals, be sprinkled on the aisle during fall ceremonies, and said couples tend to incorporate warm colors into their autumn weddings – gold, burgundy, brown, eggplant purple and navy are big hits for color schemes. Rather than typical place cards, she said, some couples have opted for pumpkins bearing guests' names with their table numbers. Instead of hav- ing a typical sign-in book for guests to write their names on display, she's seen couples ask their guests to sign "leaves" on paintings or pictures of trees, or press their thumbs down on a canvas to make "thumbprint leaves." Fall-flavored dishes are a hit with weddings, too, Marsocci told The Breeze. Kirkbrae chefs make a pasta course with pumpkin ravioli or butternut squash tortellaci, and also prepare cran- berry and apple stuffed chicken and a pork chop dish served with a fig, apple and date demi-glace, she said. For veg- etable dishes, Marsocci said, couples booking weddings in the fall tend to lean towards sweet potatoes rather than red bliss and add in squash. Sparkling apple cider and apple san- gria have been served during fall wed- dings, Marsocci said, and couples have also requested a hot apple cider station for their guests. Mini-pastries are a hit at Kirkbrae fall weddings, she explained, where apple and pumpkin pastries are served as well as apple cider donuts from Jaswell's Farm in Smithfield. Couples are invited to bring in their own cakes, Marsocci said, and she's seen wedding guests dig into apple-spice or pumpkin- Fall in love with autumn weddings By BRITTANY BALLANTYNE Valley Breeze Staff Writer Fall is a popular wedding season at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln, Tiffany Marsocci says, where couples take photos outside on the golf course to capture fall foliage in their pictures, seen above. Typically, Marsocci says, she sees couples incorporate pumpkins, leaves, apple cider as well as apple cider sangria into their wedding day.
