CUMBERLAND LINCOLN EDITION | VALLEY BREEZE | MARCH 18-24, 2021 LINCOLN / CUMBERLAND 13 Lincoln Town Administrator JOSEPH ALMOND will be leaving his post to serve as Gov. Dan McKee's deputy chief of staff. town and its people. "The people I run into at the store and the market are so complimentary and friendly to my family," he said. The employees at Town Hall keep the machine running, making Lincoln a comfortable place to live and visit." He added, "I feel that I've achieved the things I wanted to. This is an exciting new opportunity, and I'm looking forward to the challenge. I believe I can bring some positive things to the state." Almond officially submitted his resignation on Tuesday. His last day as administrator is set for two weeks from now, on March 28. The appointment of Almond adds even more representation from the Cumberland/Lincoln area to McKee's administration. The new governor has appointed at least five Cumberland residents and natives to a group run- ning interviews of applicants to be the next lieutenant governor. Rumors that Almond was stepping down from his longtime elected posi- tion as town administrator began to swirl after he resigned as a member of the Lincoln Republican Town Committee over the weekend. Committee Chairman Louis Paolino confirmed that Almond offered his resignation, but said it was given with- out explanation. Before leaving Town Hall on Monday, Almond sat down with department heads to announce his planned departure. During the council meeting later that evening, he said he had hoped to let the councilors know first, but news spread more quickly than anticipated.
