Sunset View Estates, an extension of Sunset Avenue off Diamond Hill Road, includes nine single-family homes arranged around a cul-de-sac. According to Duane Boucher, prin- cipal broker of RE/MAX Premier Properties, seven of the homes are already occupied, with another two under contract and expected to close by the end of March. "We're just finishing the interiors now, and then we'll be closing on those," he said on Monday. March 24 will mark 150 years since the day North Smithfield, and neighboring Lincoln, broke off from Smithfield and became independent municipalities in 1871. Town officials and members of the North Smithfield Heritage Association had planned a series of events to mark the sesquicen- tennial anniversary with gatherings and festivities throughout the year. However, due to the pandemic, most of those gatherings have been placed on hold. Richard Keene, presi- dent of the NSHA, said they're wait- ing to see whether COVID-19 restric- tions ease up later in the year before setting any dates. 150th anniversary celebrations on hold in North Smithfield By LAUREN CLEM Valley Breeze Deputy Editor lauren@valleybreeze.com See ANNIVERSARY, Page 11 WOONSOCKET – The state's COVID-19 vaccination effort saw a rapid acceleration last week when dozens of local and state-run vaccine sites opened their doors to seniors for the first time. Everybody's been adhering to their appointments, it's been a pretty steady flow since 9:45," he said on Thursday afternoon. Last week's clinic distributed vac- cines to 290 Woonsocket residents and 80 North Smithfield residents age 75 and older.
