COLLEGE NEWS LINCOLN – Town employees will now receive cost of living pay increas- es, following a delay of salary negotia- tions last year due to the pandemic. The Town Council was asked on Tuesday night to approve three con- tracts between the town and Local 1033 union, representing retroactive wage increases of 2.5 percent. They voted unanimously to approve all three. The three contracts ratified include union employees from Town Hall, the Lincoln Public Library and the Department of Public Works. All three contracts are effective from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021. Town Administrator Joe Almond said con- tract negotiations had been stalled due to COVID-19. When the contracts expire in June, Almond said they'll return to the table about a new con- tract while evaluating the economic situation. Almond is also due for a 2.5 per- cent cost of living increase under the town charter, which would need to be approved via an updated ordinance. The town's personnel department recently put in a request for the town administrator, whose base salary of $91,710 would increase to $94,003 if approved. Additionally, the administration has requested that base salaries for non- union town employees receive a 2.5 percent cost of living increase, which would be retroactive to July 1, 2020. The town's salary ranges for each department would also increase by 2.5 percent. The salary ordinance for non-union employees was referred to the ordi- nance committee for further consider- ation.
