NORTH SMITHFIELD – The family of an Oxford, Mass., man who died in a construction zone crash on Route 146 last September has hired a private investigator to determine what led to the accident. David Campbell, 64, was driving on Route 146 shortly before 1 a.m. on Sept. 3 when he drove his vehicle into the construction zone surround- ing the replacement of the bridge over Greenville Road. At the time, Capt. Stephen Riccitelli of the North Smithfield Police Department told The Breeze Campbell drove into an area that appeared as a paved lane of trav- el but was actually reserved for con- struction workers. Narducci acknowledged it's possible many of these voters were not interested in voting for the items on the back of the ballot. This past November, the reverse side included an uncontested race for School Committee and a referendum ques- Board of Canvassers: Too many voters missing back of ballot By LAUREN CLEM Valley Breeze Deputy Editor See BALLOT, Page 4 WOONSOCKET – As nursing homes and health officials push to dis- tribute COVID-19 vaccines as quickly as possible, some are meeting resis- tance from an unlikely source. Scott Fraser, president and CEO of the Rhode Island Health Care Association, an organization that represents more than 80 percent of nursing homes in the state, told The Breeze on Monday that member nurs- ing homes are reporting about 60 percent of staff participating in the first round of vaccine distribution. Though the organization doesn't keep actual figures, he said, the estimates come as most nursing homes wrap up their first round of vaccine doses this week.
