This was an unusual assign-
ment. AMELIA SHAPIRO-
MACBETH, 7, of Cumberland,
held one of 10 butterflies
she was about to release, at
right. Last year she raised and
released over 100 monarch
butterflies, and she was on
track to exceed that number
this season. She loves insects
and raises praying mantises
as well and she can tell you all
about their life cycles. I really
enjoyed meeting this brilliant
little girl.
