Locations include at Whittet-Higgins Company on Higginson Avenue, where they planted American holly and eastern red cedar trees among others, and at Lincoln Almond Park, where Castro said they planted lilac saplings and red maples. "It was great to see so much community love and help," he said of the volunteers. Groundwork R.I. will be water- ing and maintaining the trees for two years, Castro said. Youth in the Green Change Makers program, who are working toward being certi- fied as tree stewards, will assist with the upkeep. Next year Groundwork R.I. will also be planting trees at Curvin- McCabe Elementary School thanks to funds from Collette Travel and Brown Family Medicine, he said. Veterans and veteran family members are invited to contact the post at 401-714-4769 to sign up and receive their free Thanksgiving tur- key. The turkeys will be available for pick up at the Gatchell VFW on Monday, Nov. 23, at 4 p.m. This is a cooperative effort between Gatchell VFW Post 306 and Veterans Inc. to serve veterans and their families. IN BRIEF FabCity Cigar Lounge hosts 2nd annual Thanksgiving Giveaway PAWTUCKET – FabCity Cigar Lounge, 1438 Newport Ave., is distributing Thanksgiving care packages, which include a turkey with the fixings, to individuals and families in need. On Sunday, Nov. 22, from noon to 3 p.m. while supplies last, care packages will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Allen Correia, owner of FabCity Cigar Lounge, said, "We are grate- ful for all our customers, especially during this chaotic time. We felt inspired to give back to the com- munity, to offer hope and good will, and lift the spirits of those around us."
