With the pandemic changing just about everyone's plans, the Atrium now will have a spacious outdoor space, complete with hanging lights to create ambiance on Main Street. That change in emphasis may just be a blessing in disguise for the Main Street area of downtown, where any vibrancy has often been hidden behind closed doors and people have often complained of what looks like a dead zone at night. Artist Helio Pacheco has been commissioned to create a mural overlooking a new 1,000-square-foot outdoor patio space, a painting that ties together some of the most well- known aspects of Pawtucket's history and pays tribute to the city's past in beautiful imagery. Owners say they're planning to have the mural evolve, with new additions and sub- tractions each year.
