"We wanted to kick off summer with a fun activity that still promoted social distancing," said Katie Randall, event host and CCA program manager of Promoting the Integration of Primary and Behavioral Healthcare. Community Care Alliance, with offices mainly throughout northern Rhode Island including Woonsocket at 800 Clinton St., provides an array of family-centered services including counseling, treatment and support services. Randall, a licensed clinical social worker, is a program man- ager for PIPBHC, which is a new program that began in September of last year as part of Community Care Alliance. Instead of supporting one unit or person, the program takes care of the unit with their family as a whole. Randall, who has been with CCA since 2014, said this is the first event that she has planned and led. "This came about through COVID-19 and the quarantine," Randall said about the sidewalk chalk event. "We are trying to increase overall wellness, not just (individual) but to a family. They have been isolated and we wanted to try to come up with a way to get families connected." PIPBHC is also connected with Thundermist, also out of Woonsocket. Between staffers from PIPBHC and Thundermist, Randall said that they held a flash parade during the quarantine and that was what led to the idea of the sidewalk chalk event. "We drove our cars around Woonsocket to first responders and workers while beeping our horns and having signs out the window," she said. "There were all these peo- ple smiling and waving that made us think we need to do more. We needed to figure out how to get the public involved, not just clients." On Friday, June 26, at four loca- tions around Woonsocket, from noon to 2 p.m., anyone can stop by and pick up some chalk as well as Kick off summer and stay connected with sidewalk chalk art event BY KAYLA PANU Valley Breeze Staff Writer See CHALK ART, Page 15 RANDALL Harrelson and Costner make a great team in 'The Highwaymen' ★★★★★ If I were ever tasked with assem- bling a list of my top ten films, Brian De Palma's "The Untouchables" would undoubtedly be there. The autobiographical tale of the federal government's pursuit of notorious Chicago crime lord Al Capone led by Eliot Ness is an all-time favorite of mine. It is also one of two films star- ring Kevin Costner that I've always enjoyed watching, the other being "Dances with Wolves." Costner is just one of those actors who has a genuine, trustworthy demeanor and instills a cool, calming presence on screen. When you team him up opposite another great actor (such as Sean Connery all those years ago) the potential exists for a promis- ing payoff. Over the weekend, I discovered an outstanding film called "The Highwaymen" on Netflix, which pairs Costner alongside Woody Harrelson. Harrelson of course has a career dat- ing back to TV's "Cheers" and his film career spans decades.
