From hiking around the Blackstone Valley to clamming or relaxing at the beaches, from visiting drive-in movie theaters to creating a getaway right in your own backyard, here are some suggestions for saving summer vacation. When making recommendations for places to visit this year, Louise Bishop, president and CEO of the South County Tourism Council, said she thinks people will feel safer out- doors this summer. "What you really want to do is be outside," she said. For people used to jetting off to destinations around the country or world, this could be an opportunity to discover some hidden gems right in your own state. "People get into the habit of only going to the same place," Bishop said. "This is an excuse for you to wander. It's the year for that."
