Lincoln Council Knights of Columbus crowns Youth Soccer Challenge champs LINCOLN – The Lincoln Council Knights of Columbus recently presented plaques to the winners of the Youth Soccer Challenge, which has been held annually for the past 20 years for youngsters in Lincoln ages 9-14. The contest is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and held in cooperation with the Lincoln Youth Soccer Association, with the sup- port of the town of Lincoln's recreation program. Points are achieved in a penalty kick competition. The age division winners were Marcus Donfrancesco and Lucas Donfrancesco (boys' age 14), Cassidy Fortier (girls' age 14), Andrew Ceriello (boys' age 13), Ella Chece (girls' age 13), C.J. Thibert (boys' age 12), Aaron Kanter (boys' age 11), Mena Carbone (girls' age 11), Charlie Eltz (boys' age 10), Riley Bouthillette (girls' age 10), Elijah A'Vant and Luke Biron (boys' age 9), and Sophia Cutler (girls' age 9). Plante did likewise with her field hockey team, and while that decision was a tough one, she knew the benefits of working out in the fall. "I completely thought that I would go maybe not D-I, but at least Division II or III for field hockey, but then slowly that dwindled," she confessed. "And I realized that I can't split my time between two sports and be the best at both of them, so I took a leap of faith and kind of said, 'Let me just see what's out there.'" Nearly six feet tall, Plante looks more like a high jumper and a hur- dler than your average thrower, "but what helps is that she's tall," Grant added.
