Monday Matinee returns to Cumberland Library Dec. 2 CUMBERLAND – Each Monday in December starting on Dec. 2, the Cumberland Public Library, 1464 Diamond Hill Road, pres- ents a movie on the big screen, at 1 p.m., show- ing classic Christmas films. The first movie, on Dec. 2, is "Holiday Inn," from 1942, one hour and 40 minutes. At an inn, which is only open on holidays, a crooner and a hoofer vie for the affections of a beautiful up- and-coming performer. The rest of the movie selections include: • Dec. 9: "Christmas in Connecticut," NR, 1945, one hour and 41 minutes. A food writer who has lied about being the perfect housewife must try to cover her deception when her boss and a returning war hero invite themselves to her home for a traditional family Christmas. • Dec. 16: "It's a Wonderful Life," NR, 1946, 2 hour and 10 minutes. An angel is sent from heaven to help a desperately frustrated business- man by showing him what life would have been like if he had never existed. • Dec. 23: "White Christmas," NR, 1954, 2 hours. A successful song-and-dance team become romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general. • Dec. 30: "Bells of St. Mary's," NR, 1945, 2 hours, 6 minutes.
