According to Chief David Chartier, that number is expected to continue to rise, with 2,194 calls projected for 2019 based on month- ly averages. Those numbers are a source of concern for Chartier, who pre- sented his findings to the Town Council on Monday. The Brickle Group is a third generation-owned textile manufacturer headquartered on Singleton Street in Woonsocket. The contracts mark a recent high point for the textile industry in Woonsocket, a city whose manu- facturing base has been mostly on the decline for the past cen- tury. According to Max Brickle, president of The Brickle Group, the company is expanding, with 30,000 square feet of facility space and several new jobs added over the past few years. The news, long expected by parish- ioners, became official on Monday when the Diocese of Providence announced the church would close after Masses on Jan. 12. The announcement cited declining atten- dance and a potential $572,000 in building repairs as factors in Bishop Thomas Tobin's decision to close the church. The closing is difficult for longtime parishioners who've spent much of their lives dedicated to the upkeep of the historic church. Wayne Kilcline and his wife, Becky, have served as music directors at the parish since 1998. Kilcline described how he, his father and his children were all baptized at the parish after his grand- father first moved to the area many years ago.
