Music Hall of Famers band together to benefit the Paul Murphy Touring Ensemble Fall craft and vendor fairs PAWTUCKET – The Met, 1005 Main St., will hold a memorial fun- draising concert on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 4 p.m., to benefit the Paul Murphy Touring Ensemble at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School. Murphy was a well-known Jazz, R&B and Blues guitarist who died in 1994 and the event marks the 25 anniversary of his passing. He was posthumously inducted into the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame in 2018. Most of the musi- cians who will be performing were not only Murphy's band mates and contemporaries, but also some of his dearest friends. In addition to a performance by the Murphy Ensemble, the program will feature sets by members of Paul's band The Groovemasters with Gary Cummings and close associates Rob Nelson & The Robcats. Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame inductees on the bill are his friends Rizzz who will be joined by mem- bers of The Wild Turkey Band, and bands led by James Montgomery and Duke Robillard with whom Murphy recorded internationally released albums. Paul's career ended tragically in 1994 when he passed away suddenly in Brazil at age 40 while on tour. The R&B and Jazz ensemble at the music school was established in his name to honor his legacy and contri- butions to the Ocean State's musical heritage. The group features horns, guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals and is open to advanced high school and college age musicians by audition. Admission is $20. Saturday, Nov. 16 The Little Sisters of the Poor will host its annual Christmas Bazaar and Craft Fair at Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main St., Pawtucket, on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A basket bonanza, selection of Christmas wreaths, tabletop décor, and crafts, all hand-made by the sisters, resi- dents, and staff.
