VALLEY BREEZE | OCTOBER-31-NOVEMBER 6, 2019 CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 3 A message from Executive Committee Chairman Craig Sculos Since 1991, the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce has been serving the needs of the Ocean State's business community. And for the past 27 years, John Gregory has been at the helm. He's been advocat- ing on our behalf, and protecting the interests of the realm. Yes, he's been the shield and the sword, fully comprehending that a soft voice can accomplish as much as a forceful shout. Under John's watch and steady hand, the Chamber has grown in geographic size, membership, cred- ibility and influence. Through the good and the bad, he's been the con- stant, always steadfast in his duties – pushing, poking, prodding, yet always collaborative. John Gregory and the Chamber? Well, that's been the best combina- tion since Hershey bars first met gra- ham crackers and marshmallows. With retirement and the promise of endless tee times on the golf course beckoning, John's role as our presi- dent and CEO has come to an end. Time to queue up Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend. "Who's Next?" Well, please say hello to Liz Catucci. A member of our Board of Directors for almost five years, Liz is not John Gregory 2.0. Together with the membership, Liz will be charting the Chamber's new path. Respecting the past, she, nor we, will be bound by it. Spilling over the brim with true passion and enthusiasm for "all things Chamber," Liz's reputation is distinguished by her commitment to the cause: professional, personal and charitable. Her accomplishments and accolades are many, including recog- nition for strategic planning, fundrais- ing, business development, sales and relationship building. We're in good hands, past and present. Both John and Liz have ensured that the handoff will be free of a fumble; the transition has been Brady-to-Edelman smooth. The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce is 600 mem- bers or so strong. We represent large, international businesses as well as the bricks and mortar of Main Street. We are the backbone of the Blackstone, as well as the gas, the engine and the vehicle that propels the Rhode Island economy.
