SMITHFIELD SCITUATE FOSTER GLOCESTER | BREEZE & OBSERVER | OCTOBER 31-NOVEMBER 6, 2019 LETTERS / GLOCESTER 15 Bagaglia: Thanks to local officials for addressing Greenville Avenue problems I would like to acknowledge and thank Rep. Gregory Costantino, as well as many additional local officials, for spending many hours working for and listening to his constituents during the past years to expedite the resurfac- ing of Greenville Avenue on the Johnston-Greenville line. On several occasions Rep. Costantino accompanied myself and members of the Rhode Island Department of Transportation to travel over the rough terrain to bring the extremely poor condi- tion of the road to their atten- tion. Greg had meetings with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation to assure his con- stituents' issues are being heard and represented us to ensure the street will be resurfaced within a reason- able time. The poor condition of the street has caused damage to several cars and was labeled the "worst street in Smithfield" in an article in The Valley Breeze & Observer. People in the Johnston-Greenville area rec- ognize the efforts put forth to move this project along and thank you, Rep. Costantino, for caring for our neighborhoods and representing our area's concerns. We are proud you represent our District 44. Thank you also to the members of the Smithfield Town Council, Smithfield Town Engineer Kevin Cleary, Town Manager Randy Rossi, and Smithfield state officials, Rep. Bernie Hawkins and Sen. Stephen Archambault. TONY BAGAGLIA Greenville The shelves of the St. Philip Church food pantry received a boost thanks to BankRI's annual food drive at its Smithfield branch. Customers' generosity to an in-branch collection, together with a charitable grant awarded by the bank for food acquisition, resulted in nearly 3,100 pounds. From left, are ASHLEY BRUGNOLI, senior teller, BankRI; MARGARET CARROLL, St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at St. Philip Church; STACIA IZZO, Smithfield branch manager, BankRI; and LAUREN DASILVA-RAPOSO, teller supervisor, BankRI.
