PAWTUCKET EDITION | VALLEY BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 11-17, 2019 PAWTUCKET 9 It was a composite of color, paddles and determination as three dragon boats race to the finish line during one of the heats of the 20th annual Dragon Boat Race and Taiwan Day Festival. BREEZE PHOTOS BY ROBERT EMERSON CHRIS LEFORT, the flag catcher on the Pawtucket Police boat, grabs the flag as the boat passes during a dragon boat race on the Pawtucket River on Saturday. If the flag catcher fails to get the flag, the team faces a three-second penalty added to their final time. Members of the DRAGON BOAT TEAM FROM BLACKSTONE VALLEY PREP, calling themselves the "Pride of Dragons," enthusiastically gather together for a group photo before their race started on Saturday. During a SILENT TRIBUTE TO CANCER SURVIVORS, members of several rowing teams threw carnations into the Pawtucket River dur- ing the Dragon Boat Race and Taiwan Day Festival.
