Senior Center announces September entertainers, events WOONSOCKET – The Woonsocket Senior Center, 84 Social St., announces the entertain- ers for September. Entertainment is held every Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Sept. 5, Russ Morency; Sept. 12, Vini Ames; Sept. 19, Robert Black. Special events for September include a Generations of Beauty Fashion Show and Brunch on Saturday, Sept. 28, from noon to 3 p.m., at the center. The cost is $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers. The center will offer Quilts of Valor every Wednesday beginning Sept. 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. All skilled levels of quilters and sewers are invited to attend. SENIOR LUNCH MENU Teachers Beausoleil and Zagrodny recognized WOONSOCKET – Woonsocket Middle Schools at Hamlet and Villa Nova have announced that Sharon Beausoleil and Elaine Zagrodny have been recog- nized as Achieve3000 PRO Educators. According to a press release, this recognition is reserved for the most profes- sional, resourceful, and out- standing educators who are successfully helping their stu- dents accelerate their literacy growth. High-performing educators are invited to apply. After completing their appli- cations, their responses are reviewed and accepted by Achieve3000's PRO Educator Advisory Committee. When an educator is deemed not yet ready to be recognized a PRO, they have access to additional training and support from Achieve3000's team of lit- eracy coaches. Achieve3000 PROs receive several benefits including membership in the PRO Educator Network, access to free student prizes, special webinars and thought leader- ship sessions, and $300 travel vouchers for the National Literacy Summit that is scheduled to take place at Disney's Coronado Resort in November of this year. Beausoleil and Zagrodny have been using Achieve3000's solutions in their class- rooms for approximately three years with students in 6th-8th grades. Overall, students at Woonsocket Middle School at Hamlet and Villa Nova met or exceeded their expected literacy growth. By the end of the 2017-18 school year there were 140 more students at Woonsocket Middle School at Hamlet and Villa Nova whose reading levels were on track for college and career readi- ness than at the start of the year. BEAUSOLEIL ZAGRODNY Central Falls High School Class of 1964 will reunite Sept. 14 CENTRAL FALLS – Central Falls High School's Class of 1964 will hold its 55-year reunion on Saturday, Sept. 14, at The LeFoyer, 151 Fountain St., Pawtucket, at 6 p.m. The event will include music, dancing and a hot and cold buffet.
