CUMBERLAND LINCOLN EDITION | VALLEY BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 5-11, 2019 OBITUARIES 27 Antonio De Andrade Antonio De Andrade, 98, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Aug. 27, at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Tadeia (Fernandes) De Andrade. Born in Antas, Penalva Do Castelo, Portugal, he was the son of the late Joao and Annunciacao (De Almeida) De Andrade. He moved to this country in 1968, settling in the Valley Falls sec- tion of Cumberland. Mr. De Andrade was employed as a factory worker for Hasbro Inc. in Central Falls for over 20 years until his retirement. Antonio was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland. He enjoyed gardening, but most of all spending time with his family. He leaves his son, Carlos Andrade, of Cumberland, his daughter, Maria L. Andrade, of Cumberland; his sister, Piedade Fernandes in Portugal; his two grandchildren, Tony Andrade and Carlos Andrade, both of Cumberland; his two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Boston, both of Cumberland. He was predeceased by many brothers and sis- ters in Portugal. Antonio's Life Celebration was held with visiting hours on Aug. 29 and continued on Aug. 30, at the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in the Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial followed in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. For the online memorial, visit jjduffy- . James M. Durkin James M. Durkin, 80, of Cumberland, passed away Aug. 26. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Ventry) Durkin. They were happily married for 58 years. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late William and Rose (Robillard) Durkin. James was a baker in the bread industry for many years before retiring. James enjoyed the time he spent with his family especially his grandchildren. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children James Durkin and his former wife, Janet, Mary-Jo Durkin, and Steven Durkin and his wife, Debra; his sister, Carol Scanlon; and four grandchildren, Zackery, Travis, Haley, and Kayla Durkin. He also leaves two great-grandchildren Julian and Alexandria Restrepo. He was the brother of the late Catherine LeClerc, Judith Plante, Maureen DeLaporter, Hope Johnston, John, William and Sheila Durkin. The funeral and burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are by O'Neill Funeral Home, Cumberland. Visit . Marie T. LaPlante Marie T. LaPlante, 91, of Cumberland, passed away Sept. 2. She was the wife of the late Raymond A. LaPlante. Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late George and Alice (Turcotte) Caouette. She is survived by her children Raymond LaPlante, Richard LaPlante and his wife, Jo-Ann; her sister, Gloria Ogni; six grandchil- dren and seven great-grandchil- dren. She was the mother of late Robert LaPlante and the sister of the late Norma Peloquin, Pearl Mandeville, Jeanette Turhume, Eva Fournier, Bella Mona, Doris Caouette, Lillian Emery, Anita Tyrrell, Arthur, George, and Oscar Caouette. The funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, at 9 a.m., from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, fol- lowed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in Saint Aidan Saint Patrick Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland.
