CUMBERLAND LINCOLN EDITION | VALLEY BREEZE | AUGUST 8-14, 2019 CUMBERLAND / LINCOLN 29 Northern RI Food Pantry receives grant to buy food CUMBERLAND – The Northern Rhode Island Food Pantry is the recipient of a legislative grant through State Rep. Mia Ackerman, of House District 45 in Cumberland. The $1,000 grant was presented to members of the board last month. This is the third grant that Ackerman has procured for the pantry over the last several years. Board member Lisa Lydon said the grant will go toward purchasing food from food banks and local gro- cery stores to feed clients. Purchased goods will include nonperishable items, frozen meats, juices and bread. The Northern RI Food Pantry is a nonprofit organization providing quality foods and services to indi- viduals and families in the northern Rhode Island area. A member agen- cy of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, the pantry is an all-vol- unteer, community-supported orga- nization located at 1 Angell Road in Cumberland, near the Lincoln line. The pantry distributes food on the third Saturday of every month, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Board Members and volunteers of the NORTHERN RI FOOD PANTRY accept a leg- islative grant from Rep.
