Cluley (Devonis), 62, of Alton Ave., passed away Friday, June 28, in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the beloved wife of George Cluley Jr. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Elizabeth (McNeil) Devonis Sr. She was a lifelong Cumberland resi- dent having also lived a short time in Pawtucket and Lincoln. She and her husband volunteered on behalf of "BONES" "Beagles of New England, a foster care system for dogs for the past 10 years. Beside her husband she leaves two step-daughters, Lauren Cluley of Sherman Oaks, Calif., Stephanie Cluley of Providence, a grandson, Noah Anderson, of Providence, and a brother, William J. Devonis Jr., of Pawtucket. Funeral services will be private. Arrangements under the direction of J. J. Duffy Funeral Home. CLULEY Ruth Freitas Ruth (McDonald) Freitas, 97, of Abbey Drive, Cumberland, wife of the late Salvador "Sam" Freitas, died at the Holiday Retirement Home on July 2. Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah ( Joyce) McDonald. She is survived by two daugh- ters, Donna Lucitt of Lincoln, and Joyce Dupre of Burrillville; three granddaughters and three great- grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Rev. Edward J. McDonald CSP, James McDonald, Kenneth McDonald, John McDonald, Joseph McDonald, Alice Harris and Mary Bergeron. At the request of Mrs. Freitas, ser- vices will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, Cumberland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to a char- ity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Jean E. Orfan Jean E. Orfan, 80, of Cumberland, passed away July 5, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Daniel J. Orfan. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Gertrude (Craig) Taylor. Besides her hus- band, she is survived by her children, Daniel Orfan, Lisa Fougere, Jeffrey Orfan and his wife, Lisa, and her sis- ter, Roberta Dubuc, and her husband, Norm. She also leaves her grandchil- dren, Kristen Fougere Tagher and her husband, Andrew, Kyle Orfan, Thomas Orfan, Julie Fougere, and Jake Orfan. Jean enjoyed the friendly competi- tion of tennis and shuffleboard with many friends. She loved wintering on Marco Island, Fla., for 21 years, but she also had to be home for the holidays with her children and grand- children. Summers in Cumberland were a must, especially celebrating the Fourth of July by opening her home to many friends with a big cookout and swimming after the parade. One of the biggest joys in her life were the amazing trips with her husband, Dan, visiting at least 20 countries and as far away as China and several African countries. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial today, Thursday, July 11, at 10 a.m., in St. John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will be private. Visiting hours were held July 10, from 4 to 7 p.m., in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island. Isabel Muriel (Bergesson) Caron, 97, formerly of Cumberland, Rhode Island, died peacefully at Cabrini Nursing Home, Dobbs Ferry, NY, on June 20, 2019. She was the loving wife for 67 years of the late Alfred J. (Pete) Caron. Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Raymond A. and Annabel (Isles) Bergesson. She was the sister of the late Charles H. Bergesson and Raymond A. Bergesson. Muriel was a medical assistant for the late Dr. Patrick Levesque in Cumberland for over 30 years. Muriel was the devoted mother of Ann Marie Caron, RSM, Ph.D. of Bronxville, NY, Raymond A. (Cathy) Caron of Orlando, FL, and Philip C. (Susan Benz) Caron, M.D., Ph.D. of New York, NY. She was the cherished grandmother of Rae Ann (Caron) Butera, Dawn, Francis and Michael Caron, two great-grandchildren, Catherine and Christian Butera, and the aunt of Gail (Bergesson) Beaudet and June (Bergesson) Couture. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville, RI at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20th. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
