VALLEY BREEZE & OBSERVER LIVING EDITION | JULY 2-9, 2019 ENTERTAINMENT 3 Board The Explorer this summer for tours of the Providence Harbor and the Seekonk River PAWTUCKET – The Explorer, Blackstone Valley Tourism Council's 40-passenger educational vessel, will continue its summer public tour sea- son from Al's Waterfront Restaurant, 28 Water St., East Providence, on Sunday, July 7. The Explorer will offer guided Nature & Heritage Tours every Sunday afternoon at 1, 2, 3 and 4 through Sunday, Sept. 1. Tickets start at $10. The tour will include Providence Harbor at the entrance of the Providence River. On calm days, the boat will pass through the Fox Point Hurricane Barrier and catch great views of the beautiful Providence skyline. The boat will then travel up the Seekonk River and pass under the Washington Bridge. Upriver toward Pawtucket, the Explorer passes by the Crook Point Bascule Bridge ("the Stuck- up Bridge"). A changing landscape delivers opportunities to see eastern shore birds like osprey, great blue heron, great egret, double-crested cormorant, and an occasional American bald eagle feeding, flying, and resting. When not offering public tours, the Explorer is available for private charters. Throughout the season, Explorer River Tours will depart from dif- ferent sites around the Blackstone Valley, with uniquely programmed tours at each location. The summer/fall 2019 Explorer dock schedule is: July 7 to Sept. 1: Al's Waterfront Restaurant, 28 Water St., East Providence.; Sept. 15 to Oct. 20: Cold Spring Park, 101 Katherine Road, Woonsocket. For more information, visit www. rivertourblackstone.com or contact BVTC's Director of Environmental Education, Marina Flannery at 401- 724-2200 or marina@tourblackstone. com . Making its debut in the summer of 1993, as part of the bicentennial celebration of the American Industrial Revolution, THE EXPLORER RIVERBOAT is the only vessel designed to travel along segments of the Blackstone River system.
