The Storm, who outscored their opponents, 45-7, saw Lacie Grenier, Lily Roumelis, and Faith Dean lead the offense by batting over .550 and combining for 15 RBIs. The pitching staff also struck out 42 batters and allowed just 14 hits, and Lauren Cipriano pitched a no-hitter in a win over the Connecticut Pride. The mem- bers of the team, which has a record of 37-8-1 in tourney play, are, in front from left, Faith Dean, Madison Kennedy, Lily Roumelis, and Madi Leboeuf; in middle row, Lauren Cipriano, Skyla Oliveira, Lacie Grenier, Julia Cavanagh, and Jade Hill; in back, coaches Darren Cipriano, Chris Clemishaw, Kenny Oliveira, and Joe Roumelis. Smithfield Storm U12 softball team wins Coventry Crush Tournament SMITHFIELD – The Smithfield YMCA on 15 Deerfield Drive will host a lifeguard certification course that will be held from June 17-20, with each session lasting from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and interested individuals should set up an appointment for a pre-test with Jennifer Bibeault at 401- 949-2480, ext. 106. This summer, the YMCA will also offer lessons in backyards throughout Smithfield, Foster, Glocester, and Scituate. A minimum of two swim- mers is needed to hold these lessons, and a YMCA instructor will bring the equipment needed to run the lessons. Contact Bibeault to schedule lessons or for more information. The YMCA will also again run a seven-week swim lesson and swim team program, beginning on the week of Monday, July 8. Swim lessons are offered Monday through Saturday. Smithfield YMCA offers lifeguard certification course, swim lessons Smithfield resident ERIN CARBERRY, right, took first place in the women's 5K at the 32nd annual Narrow River Road Races that were held on May 18 at Narragansett Town Beach. The 3.1- mile course began at Treaty Rock Park on South Kingstown's Middlebridge Road and ended in front of the beach's North Pavilion. Carberry was the second overall finisher with her time of 19:39, and she topped the runner-up women's finisher by more than three minutes.
