BREEZE PHOTO BY CHARLES LAWRENCE GLOCESTER – Hundreds of fam- ily members and friends gathered outside on the Ponaganset High School green to celebrate the 192 members of the graduating Class of 2019 during June 7 commencement ceremonies. Supt. Michael Barnes said 86 per- cent of the students will be continu- ing on to to college, 6 percent will join the military, 4 percent are enter- ing the workforce, and 4 percent are undecided. Also, students in the Class of 2019 received 196 separate instances of industry certificates or college credits, Barnes said. He congratulated them on their accomplishments, as well as their sense of pride. BREEZE PHOTO BY TOM WARD SMITHFIELD – Twelve years in the making, Smithfield High School's graduating class of 2019 crossed the finish line at Bryant University to receive their high school diplomas during the school's 52nd annual commencement exercises Tuesday evening. Principal Dan Kelley said one of the distinguishing characteristics of the Class of 2019 was its insistence on keeping a positive attitude and staying optimistic. "When I think of this class, I think of two words: relationships and resil- iency," Kelley said. He said their success will not end at graduation, but continue through their adult lives.
