8 GRADUATION 2019 JUNE 6-12, 2019 | VALLEY BREEZE & OBSERVER | SMITHFIELD SCITUATE FOSTER GLOCESTER EDITION Blanchette said she learned that after the 2017 death of a student, Derek Hall, that the class was resilient, also described as empa- thetic and intuitive. She said teachers noticed how close and compassionate the students were with one another. Hall's #20 football jersey was framed and presented at the front of the gazebo during the evening's cer- emonies. "You have a way of letting people know that you've noticed them and that you care," Blanchette said. The class was also described as hilarious and supportive, and is known for celebrating one anoth- er's successes. Skills such as those will take the students far in life, Blanchette said. "Go into the next phase of your life with the same enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness," Blanchette said. No matter how far students go, they will always be welcome home to Scituate High School, she added. Principal Michael Hassell said the "truly impressive" 2019 class proved to everyone that they were able to overcome adversity, standing in soli- darity despite a great loss. "For two years, they did what they did best and showed love to their fellow classmates and grew stronger because of it. I am so proud of each and every one of you," Hassell said. Hassell said 88 students, or 93 percent of the class, will be attend- ing a two- or four-year college and received more than $80,000 in merit- based scholarships. He said others will follow their passion into a career or trade program, and two students made the "noble choice" to enter the military. He listed off the class's accomplish- ments, such as community service, helping others in need, winning state Scituate High School Class of 2019 graduates Laura Rose Allard Justin Anthony Andreozzi + Sophia Lynn Argenti Sydney Paige Austin + Jacob Aaron Beckenstein John Meier Benum Abeigh Elizabeth Berek + Noah Michael Brown + Emma Elizabeth Buehrer + Grace Marie Buscher + Lyndsey Lucille Cairone + Kacie Ann Caracciolo * + Alexie Rose Casale Jake Michael Catanzaro Lindsey Elizabeth Catanzaro + Connor Paul Champagne Charlotte Eve Cifelli Preston DeMarcos Collazo Sophia Grace Collins + Daniel John Costello + Erin Kathleen Costello + Collin Paul Anthony Couillard Trevor Ethan Cuffy Carrina Nicole Delp Sara Ruth DeSilva Amelia June Dexter + Ellie Victoria Dionne + Skylar Michelle Dumas Michael Allen Edem + Jordan Diane Enright + Halie J.
