VALLEY BREEZE & OBSERVER LIVING EDITION | FEBRUARY 6-12, 2019 REAL ESTATE 5 Updated historic Colonial for sale in Cumberland CUMBERLAND – Built in 1765, this historic Colonial has been updated and mod- ernized while keeping an old- fashioned feel. "It's been totally rewired," listing agent, John Bessette, said. "And has been in the same family for generations." Bessette said that not all of Tower Hill Road was wired for electricity until after 1950. The owner is a licensed elec- trician and has updated the house with 200 amp electric. They have also added a 20-by-20-foot kitchen addition on the house. Bessette said that it is a nice house that still has some quirks from being built in the 1700s. The property sits on 1.29 pristine acres, Bessette said. The house is set back from the road with a nice front yard bordered by a rock wall and stone steps leading to the front door. There is also a two-car garage. The house is next door to a horse farm. "You are out in the middle of nowhere but close to everything," Bessette said. "It's really a country road in a tranquil area with deer and other wildlife." "The kitchen is absolutely stunning," Bessette said. "With granite countertops, maple cabinets, recess lighting and piped-in sound." The hickory hardwood floors are all new, along with the ceilings and LED recessed lights. In the kitchen there is lighting under the cabinets as well as a center island with a wine refrigerator. Also on the first floor are the living and family rooms. Because the house was built in the 1700s, with no heat or electricity, the house has four fireplaces, but only one is in working condition. The center fireplace, in the family room, has a wood stove and is the biggest fireplace. It is centrally located to spread the heat throughout the house. The home has one full and one half bathroom and both have been recently updated. The half bath is on the first floor and the full bath is on the second level. There are also three bedrooms, two on the second level and one on the third. Bessette said that there are two staircases in the house. One is from the kitchen and leads up to the master bed. Then there is a smaller stair- case on the first floor that goes to the second and third floors. Off of the kitchen is a slider leading out to a 14-by-20-foot back deck. The backyard leads to an above-ground pool. All of the windows in the house have been replaced. The roof was also replaced about seven years ago. This Colonial offers 2,170 square feet of living space. The house is listed at $355,000 by John Bessette, of Residential Properties. There will be an open house on Sunday, Feb. 10, from noon to 1:30 p.m., or contact Bessette at 401-578- 4285.
