Hot chocolate by the fireplace Owners of proposed massive solar farm lay out design details Major project would include 'pollinator habitat' to lessen environmental impact NORTH SMITHFIELD – Plans are taking shape for the Green Development solar farm, a proposed 40-plus-megawatt development that, if approved, would be the largest solar project in northern Rhode Island and possibly the state. The latest plans, presented to mem- bers of the Planning Board during a review of the company's master plan application last week, continued to draw opposition from residents and environmental advocates who expressed concerns with soil erosion, water quality and impact on wildlife as a result of tree clearing on the mas- sive 407-acre site. The site is roughly bordered by Iron Mine Hill Road to the south, Greenville Road to the west and Route 146 to the north and east. The festivities will kick off at 1 p.m. at the Municipal Center, where families can participate in crafts and cookie decorating, get a cup of apple cider and even vote for their favorite creation in the gingerbread house contest.
