Scituate Around the corner, the North Scituate Village hosts its two-day Candlelight Stroll the second weekend in December. On Friday, Dec. 7, from 3 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 8, from 2 to 8 p.m., local stores and shops will open with special discounts and giveaways after decorating the streets for Christmas. Carolers decked in Christmas sweaters will stroll the village alongside attendants for what Sacha Hummel of the Candlelight Stroll calls an invitation to the "best-kept secret in Rhode Island." Returning for the 18th year, the Candlelight Stroll features the "festive culture of the Holidays," from treats and drinks from Coldbrook Cafe, 138 Danielson Pike, to coun- try accessories from Bittersweet and Ivy, 171 Danielson Pike. Hummel said local organizations host several family-friendly activities throughout the weekend to spread the holiday spirit. The North Scituate Library will hold a story time on Friday, Dec. 7, at 5 p.m. In the evening of Dec. 8, St. Joseph's Parish will host "A Night in Bethlehem," a night of A "people person," Candlight Shopping organizer CHARLIE WILSON, above, owner of the Town Trader, 1177 Putnam Pike, will help any visitor in his shop find the special gift for that hard-to-shop for person.
