Thanksgiving is today, Christmas Eve is tomorrow … at least it feels this way every year. As the end of 2018 approaches, the hustle and bustle of the holiday season will breeze by without a moment to spare. The time to purchase gifts for family and friends is now. While gift cards, electronics and clothes are go-to options, jewel- ry takes the holidays to the next level, with an emphasis on thoughtful- ness and luxury. There are a variety of styles and trends for shoppers to consider. Selections are endless with bracelets, necklaces and earrings, giving buyers the ability to cre- ate nice combinations. This year, retro trends offer something appeal- ing for all ages. Layered necklaces are sported by celebrities of all ages. Typically, the look is created with dainty chains. One is worn close to the neck (also known as a choker), another at medium length, and the third as a much longer chain. One way to create this look is for the two shorter chains to be a plain back- drop for the lon- gest necklace, which would hold a statement pendant. The pendant could be a cross, gem, tassels, charm, etc. Another way to style the layered look is to mix-and-match various tex- tured ropes with multiple small pendants on each chain. Just like layering necklaces, an assortment of stackable rings or bracelets have also been a 2018 show-stopper. With rings, stacking a mix of tones and textures is trend- setting. The contrast between yellow, white and rose gold really catches the eye. Bracelets are also flexible, where the set can be built upon. Creating a stacked set of beaded bracelets is a fun look, with beads mixed by size, color and shape. The more colors, the more striking the appear- ance. Similarly, stacking gemmed bracelets can also be creative when done tastefully. In a collection, some bracelets could have a lot of gems while other bracelets could be plain. The bal- ance between plain and colored stones creates a stylish and classy look that doesn't make it look like you're trying too hard. Finally, dangled earrings have been a huge hit this year. Since earrings are worn close to the face, it could be the first piece noticed before any other jewelry. Beads, tas- sels, metallic florals, and feathers are all popular. Great earrings have the potential to be a statement piece for an entire look, especially if the earring is a color that pops.
