CUMBERLAND LINCOLN EDITION | VALLEY BREEZE | OCTOBER 11-17, 2018 LINCOLN 15 LINCOLN – The former "con- necter," the central portion of Lincoln High School linking the former middle school to the newer high school, has been largely replaced by piles of rubble and dust. Demolition on the connecter began at the end of September and is expected to be complete by the end of October, according to project manager Charlie Roberts of Colliers International. Following demolition, Roberts said crews will immediately begin building up. He expects bids for the foundation, steel and site work to be finalized in the next two weeks or so. The connecter will be replaced with a new, two-story educational hub that includes classroom wings, a dining com- mons and new library/media commons. At the back of the building, a high extension will house new carpentry and automotive spaces for career and tech- nical education students. When phase I of the LHS renovation is complete, students will transition into the new classroom spaces so construc- tion can begin on the circa-1954 former middle school and circa-1963 former high school portions of the school flank- ing the former connecter space. With the noisier demolition work slated for the afternoons after students have left the building, Roberts said he has not received any complaints con- cerning the demolition so far, adding that the demolition has been very con- trolled. Those seeking more information are invited to the next LHS Building Committee meeting tonight, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. inside the LHS cafeteria.
