6 PAWTUCKET OCTOBER 10-16, 2018 | VALLEY BREEZE | PAWTUCKET EDITION PAWTUCKET – City residents got a sneak preview of "Jungleland" as scenes for the upcoming film were shot along city streets last week. The 2019 drama is directed by Max Winkler and written by Theodore Bressman, David Branson Smith, and Winkler. It stars Jack O'Connell, Charlie Hunnam, and Jessica Barden. Doug Armitage, of Jungleland Productions LLC, requested permis- sion to film scenes for the feature film about a "bare-knuckle boxer traveling across the country for his big shot," said representatives from Mayor Donald Grebien's office. Filming happened on Oct. 2 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There were 10 loca- tions where producers were looking to film, including a scene shot on Newport Avenue. The crew size was approximately 20, according to Grebien spokes- man Wilder Arboleda. Production Manager Ted Deiker was also in the city for the shooting of the $5 mil- lion film. Downtown cleanup is Saturday PAWTUCKET – The Pawtucket Downtown Cleanup will be held this Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The gathering spot is Bake My Day at 23 Broad St. Help make downtown Pawtucket beautiful during this event hosted by the Pawtucket Downtown Alliance. Leon Mathieu Senior Center hosts Halloween party Oct. 26 PAWTUCKET – The Leon Mathieu Senior Center, 420 Main St., is holding a Halloween Party for its members on Friday, Oct. 26, at 12:30 p.m., in the first floor activity room. There will be a costume contest, refreshments and entertainment provided by members of the Center. The cost is $1 per person.
