Recruiting Scouts IN BRIEF Race for Matt and Grace 5K is Saturday PROVIDENCE – The 9th annual Race for Matt and Grace, a 5K run, walk, or roll event, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Rhode Island College, 600 Mount Pleasant Ave. Registration will be from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. The race begins at 10 a.m. There will be a post-race party at the Portuguese American Social and Athletic Club, 32 Fenwood Ave., in Smithfield, immediately following the race, featuring food, drinks, raffles and entertainment. The race honors Matt Dilorio, of Johnston, and Grace Hopkins, of Connecticut, as well as fellow Rhode Islander Alex Fielding, all of whom are living with Friedreich's Ataxia. According to the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance, FA is a debilitating, life- shortening, degenerative neuro- muscular disorder, affecting about one in 50,000 people in the United States. College fair at McCoy Stadium tonight PAWTUCKET – The RISLA College Planning Center, a free service run by the nonprofit Rhode Island Student Loan Authority, is hosting its 9th annual college fair on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m., at McCoy Stadium. Students can speak with college representatives from more than 100 colleges and universities and get their questions answered about academics, student life, and financial aid. St. Aidan Seniors host Halloween party CUMBERLAND – The St. Aidan Senior Club will meet on Friday, Oct. 5, at St. Aidan Parish Center, 1460 Diamond Hill Road.
