CUMBERLAND LINCOLN EDITION | VALLEY BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 20-26, 2018 SCOUTS 11 ELLA DOYLE, left, and her mother, MAURA, carry bins of doll clothing and accessories that Ella collected through donations from the community. AMANDA VINCENT, left, child advocate with the Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center, accepts the donation of restored American Girl dolls and acces- sories from Cumberland Girl Scout ELLA DOYLE. Cumberland Girl Scout completes American Girl doll donation project CUMBERLAND – Girl Scout Ella Doyle, of Cumberland Troop 415, delivered a collection of more than 25 carefully restored American Girl dolls and acces- sories to Amanda Vincent, a child advocate with the Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center, on Aug. 30. Doyle, who is entering her 9th year of Scouting, undertook the project to collect, restore and donate the dolls as part of her Girl Scout Silver Award. Last spring, The Breeze printed a request for donations of dolls, and Doyle says she was overwhelmed by the generous support from the com- munity, offering thanks to all who donated. She worked on the project all summer, sprucing up the dolls and replacing missing parts, before delivering them to The Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center, which helps families affected by domestic violence. Some of the dolls will be avail- able for play in safe homes run by the center, while others will find new homes with children who have moved on to transitional housing. Doyle is the daughter of Maura and Mike Doyle, of Cumberland. She is a freshman at Bishop Feehan High School, in North Attleboro, Mass., and a graduate of St. Mary- Sacred Heart Elementary School in North Attleboro. Looking to rent or for a Rental?
