Unbeaten Good Shepherd volleyball team captures fifth CAL state title Woonsocket L.L.'s Jim Carr Memorial Jimmy Fund golf tourney is Aug. 18 WOONSOCKET – The 25th annual Woonsocket Little League Jim Carr Memorial Jimmy Fund golf tour- nament will return to Triggs Country Club in Providence on Saturday, Aug. 18, with registration beginning at 6:30 a.m. and play starting at 8 a.m. The tournament, which is the main charity event that is sponsored by the league, was established in 1993 in the memory of Jim Carr, a longtime Little League manager and volunteer who passed away after battling can- cer. Over the past 24 years, the tourna- ment has raised a total of $274,000, with all the proceeds going to the Jimmy Fund. A post-event barbecue is scheduled to start immediately after the tour- nament. The cost for a foursome is $540, and the tourney is also current- ly in need of sponsors and gifts that can be used as prizes or raffle items. Tee and green sponsorships, at $125 each, are also available.
